Is there somewhere in the lessons or in forum where I can learn to copy Brian’s sounds? What amps, pedals etc does Brian commonly use? I have a Fender GTX50 and it has a number of settings and pedals I can combine to get different sounds. Thanks, and have a good weekend.

Trying to make my guitars sound as good as they look.

          Hi Cal,

Sometimes Brian mentions the tone at the beginning of the lesson or (rarely) in the replies to the comments. He may use a pedal or an amp occasionally but for the most part, he just uses a Kemper Profiler to record his electric guitar lesson demos where he simply selects one of the presets.

Brian made a short video about getting a good sound out of any amp, you may find it useful:

I have heard a couple of famous guys pick up somebody’s cheap guitar, and they always sound like themselves. It’s not always the instrument or the amp. But good quality gear does make it a bit easier.

I struggled for a very long time to get “The Sound” of most online lessons resulting in total frustration listening to my own sound coming from my amp.
It took me a very long time to understand how to get anywhere near any sound I heard in a lesson which meant I was not focusing on the lesson at hand.
Eventually, I managed to find some good information on YOUTUBE about how to get what I wanted from my amp (BOSS Katana MK1)
Early on I just didn’t know enough about delay-reverb-gain etc. And my biggest failure was dialling in too much of most things.
I still have a long way to go, however, I now feel it is more of a journey than it is a destination.
