Hi everyone! I’ve been away from the forum for some months.
Recently André contacted me to ask me if I wanted to make a new collaboration and I proposed him a song I loved when I was a kid /young boy and I listened for the first time to an album called “In the falling dark” by the great Bruce Cockburn:
Vagabondage.I lowered the key from D to C. In C it’s a simple 2 chords song: C9 – F9 and I think Cockburn very likely played his guitar in a open C tuning: C G C G C E with capo at the 2nd fret. So I and André played our acoustic guitars in open C without capo.
The arrangement makes the difference. We kept only the drums from the original, and I tried to reproduce some of the original flute parts with my midi keyboard (VST: Plogue sforzando and alto flute sample sound from Virtual Playing Orchestra 3 library).
André played the most difficult flute parts, reinventing them with its magic Les Paul with some awesome harmonization (the second harmony electric guitar part is not in the video ). And he’s also added a Bass Pad drone part with his midi keyboard.
Hope you’ll like it

Wonderful, Guido, and nice to see you on the forum.
I was a big Cockburn fan in my youth, especially his early fingerstyle songs, “High Winds, White Sky” and “Joy Will Find a Way” are also great albums. He is, of course, a Canadian and I’ve seen him live a few times.
A lot of those finger style early works might be a little above our pay grade.
That Andre has a great ear, doesn’t he.

Lot of work went into this one. Sounds great with the emulated flue part on the keyboard. Of course Andre played a very tasteful part on lead.
Root note patterns >>> CAGED shapes >>> TRIAD'S. Just put in the work and watch your guitar skills soar.

Excellent work from both of you! I can only imagine the time and effort you guys put into this one but it paid off very well 😎
PS: The flute part sounds really authentic. If you had not mentioned that was a synth part, i would have been none the wiser.

Thanks Geoff! The flute part sounds authentic because is a real flute sound recorded and sampled. It belongs to a library of a whole orchestra’s instruments that is free for download and used with a VST plugin in a computer.

Back for another listen Guido and Andre. Really top performance from start to finish and as said above these collaborations (including background images and insert videos) take a massive amount of time, effort and energy. Kudos to you both. All the best! 😎🎸😎

Just a brilliant production.
The performances were top notch, the video was top notch, and the amount of effort put into this collaboration is very impressive.
The flute parts being done on keyboard and guitar were a stroke in themselves.
Take bow guys. That was awesome.
