Hello my dearest AMers ♥️
This is my first attempt to sing after a long period in which I had something called Muscle Dysphonia Tension caused by laryngitis !I haven’t fully recovered yet and I’m still doing speech therapy! But now that I have started playing the acoustic guitar I couldn’t resist this marvelous song🥰🥰Both guitar parts are amazing (and difficult🤩🤩)!!!!And I tried my best!I hope you like it! -

Helen that sounded fantastic.
You’re right about those guitar parts but I honestly have to say I don’t think it could have been played any better than that.
Wouldn’t have known your voice was in recovery either.
If you got a bunch of songs like that together for a set you’d be able to gig it with no problem at all.
Well done. Seriously.
Liam.

Fantastic rendition Helen! Both guitar part brilliantly played and seamlessly synced and your vocals are soulful and beautiful (it seems you’re recovering very well). I know very well how difficult is to play and sing this masterpiece because I learnt it too, but only the mean Jim Croce’s part ( learning also the Maury Muehleisen’s part, which complements beautifully the song, is also a challenge and needs a lot of practice).
Congratulations on your fantastic performance, from a lover of the Croce’s work!

I wanted to write “the MAIN Jim Croce’s part”, of course! Beautifully crafted and brilliantly played by you, Helen!

Maury Muehleisen And Jim Croce were a dynamite pair of guitarists. And you’ve done this song so beautifully I think they’d be proud. Your vocals sounded great too. I’m glad to hear your doing better.

What a fingerpicking milestone for you, Helen. When James covered the song I was taken with the complexity of the guitar parts.
So sorry to hear about your voice struggles but sounds like you’re on the mend.

That’s a masterpiece accomplishment in guitar work Helen. Must have taken a long time to get that down.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Outstanding performance Helen. Both guitar parts sounded perfect and your vocals injected feeling and soul despite your concerns. I’ve always like Jim Croce’s work and this song was is probably his greatest work. You did him proud 👏👏👏

Congratulations, Helen. You played that beautifully. Quite an accomplishment to get this song under your fingers and sing it too. Your finger style has developed quickly. I know you’ve been practicing because it doesn’t come easy. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Nicely played Helen and you singing I liked very much.
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Bravo Helen 👏 👏. That sounded really good!
I knew you had laryngitis but I did not know how bad it was. Normally something that lasts s little while followed by complete recovery but, I guess, not in your case. Great to hear your voice again.

Beautiful! As a scientific experiment, you should record this again after 6 months to see if your voice has changed as you continue to recover.

Excellent performance Helen. A classic song and you’ve sung and played it like a professional. I definitely wouldn’t have know you were recovering from a vocal issue. I hope you make a full recovery. It’s not ideal when you’re a musician and your voice or/and hands are compromised. Look after yourself and thanks for sharing your talents. All the best! 😎🎸😎

That was just awesome Helen. The guitar work alone must have taken a lot of work to perfect. You also used a song to remind me of the term line cliché you once educated us on. Look after your voice as it’s an instrument too.

My dearest Helen,
I must say, your guitar and vocal performances are both top-notch. It was so good to hear you on the acoustic guitar. You have such a nice touch.
Hearing you sing, I wouldn’t have known about any vocal issues.
Best wishes for your healing process, and do everything you can to maintain your beautiful voice. It’s a great gift you have.
By the way, I’m heading to Greece again in two weeks. This year, Skopelos. I’m looking forward to it.Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be July
There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum
I look forward to meet you.

Oh this is marvelous Helen! Kudos for pulling off the guitar parts and singing at the same time. You are still making great strides with your strong vocals and playing…. This can’t be easy. Nevertheless, you invoked some emotion (in me) and great memories by performing and submitting this song. I remember when it came out in the early 70’s. Very well done. Take care of that lovely voice. Thanks for sharing.

This was absolutely wonderful, Helen – so well done, especially considering you’re not fully recovered from your Muscle Dysphonia Tension 👏👏🥰🥰 As I mentioned to you already, please be sure to be gentle with yourself and give time to fully recover.
I must say, I was a bit surprised to hear you singing this – it’s not easy, and I just hope you didn’t push yourself too much 🤔🤔♥️♥️
We’ve already spoken about the difficulty you’re having with not talking so much 🤣🤣 More challenging for you than any of the guitar lessons 😂😂💕💕♥️♥️
Oh – and I nearly forgot – the mix on this performance is superb 👌👌 Did Mike do this for you?
Lots of love as always,
Mark – 👍🎶😎 🥰🥰
