The search for TIDAL only gave me one hit, so I’m assuming it’s OK to start this topic.
I’m looking for recommendations on TIDAL blues artists or playlists that you love, listen to often, your go-to for blues inspiration.
I’ll go first 🙂
Aynsley Lister: https://tidal.com/album/222585630/u
Also, this blues harmonica “user” MusicMe (I’m not sure if this is part AI, all AI or maybe someone with lots of time on their hands – I love it either way!): https://tidal.com/album/463430469/u

Good question, Harden. Well, I’ve asked around and nobody I know has ever heard of Tidal. From what you say, I guess it’s a music streaming platform. Now days I almost never stream music or listen to radio. Why? Because as a guitar student, I view music as a fulltime learning experience. So instead, I watch music videos, choosing ones where I can watch the musicians – guitarists and bass players – playing their instruments. I study where on the neck they are playing their licks, what scales they are using, what both hands are doing, whether or not they are looking at their fretboards…..stuff like that.
I haven’t seen you on the forum before, so that makes me immediately suspicious. Perhaps you are legitimate, but posting a question like this has happened before on the AM Forum. It’s done by people who are not actually participating members of AM, but instead have connections to some web site or app and want to boost their user base. If that is the case and you are somehow involved in the Tidal business, I wish you and your company good luck, because all music is good for the human race.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the reply. Let’s start backwards :). I can understand your suspicions, although I can’t really see what sparked it (I didn’t spam, didn’t solicit anything, was genuinely polite etc.). Anyway, I’ve been in your shoes on other forums. True, I’m new here. I bought the yearly subscription last week and I’m jumping straight in. The existence of this forum was one of the selling points. I see lots of value in communities. You’ll see me here at AM a lot more. In fact, I’m about to post my first clip in “showcase your playing” based on the first lesson I’m working on.
Back to the topic at hand. TIDAL is a streaming platform, like Spotify, but better imo. I had no idea it wasn’t common knowledge. When I come to think of it, TIDAL isn’t a popular or widespread as Spotify is. Never mind that, it’s not relevant for this conversation. I have no vested interest in TIDAL except for being a user there.
The point of this post was to initiate a conversation so we can share artists and playlist that we listen to, that inspire us. It’s exactly why I share first.
Anyhow, I also do what you mentioned. Watch videos, study what others are doing, but that isn’t always practical. I can’t go without music. When walking, exercising, in the car and many other situations where I’m just a listener (vs the guitar player/student). Streaming is perfect for this.
Moving forward, I think I’ll edit the OP so it’s not TIDAL focused. Spotify, YouTube, even just sharing the name of the artist would work just fine.
Looking forward to many more conversations here. Cheers!

Yep, all good. I just found it strange that I’ve been on this forum for almost 10 years and never heard the word “Tidal” mentioned before. There have been lots of posts like “Who’s your favorite Chicago Blues artist?” or “What are your 5 favorite jam bands?”
In the early days of the Forum, almost no one posted on “Showcase your playing”, because we were all just rank beginners. Instead, there were lots of posts about playing styles, old blues masters, comparison of guitars and amps, and videos of great performances by guitar wizards. Fast forward, and lots of us long-time members are complaining that the vast majority of stuff we see posted is “Showcase your playing”. What happened to sharing some cool video we saw on Youtube of an early Allman Brothers concert? What happened to sharing your thoughts on that new tube amp you just bought? Or, can anyone recommend a good parlor guitar? Maybe it’s because Google AI can answer any question we ask, so we just don’t need the Forum for sharing or gathering information anymore. All we need it for is to show off our playing skills.
Anyway, welcome to the Forum, and thanks for not just posting another “Showcase your playing” video.

I truly plan to be a proper contributing member here. I’ve missed belonging to a community like this one.
What you wrote of sharing from the early days and old masters, reminded me of a friend who does that on facebook and faces this very same issue you’re describing. Almost nobody does that anymore.
My take on the “showcase your playing” is super positive. It’s motivational, especially for new players finding courage to play in front of others and accept either praise or critique. If not here, then live (in a pub maybe) but then that would be quite the stretch, wouldn’t you agree? I personally find it very inspiring and slightly competitive – hey if that guy could do it, so can I :).

Hi Harden,
Food for thought.
I have heard of TIDAL but not a user. As a resident of Apple’s walled garden, Apple Music provides my music. Like you I’ll listen whenever and wherever I can.
Also like you, Ainsley Lister has featured heavily on my playlist this year. That guy rocks! “Everything I need” being my current pick of his albums.
I flit from one thing and one genre to another but looking at my listening history and skipping the usual very well known names, Johanna Shaw Taylor has featured heavily, try “White Sugar” if you’ve not heard it before.
On the more folky side Sara Jarosz “Build me up from bones”.
And for a more bluesy soul sound, Cardinal Black, featuring the standout guitar work of Chris Buck -

On the bluesy but with a touch of a folky side of things maybe try Meena Cryle and Chris Fillmore Band. More specifically, their 2019 album Elevations. They are awesome!
