I swear this is a true story.
Last Saturday, while out on the back porch reading a science fiction book and drinking a few beers, I was lamenting the fact that I could have played EP376 better, which I had just posted for the April 2024 “Unofficial Challenge.”
Disconsolate, I looked up my original post of EP376 in October, 2020 and came across Bobby Ut’s hilarious comments, in which in he said I was a good player, but that I was playing too fast, “ahead or pushing the beat” (my eternal nemesis). He recommended that I “drink three beers and go for a long walk” before my next performance. Amazingly, right when I read this, I was about half way through my third Coors Lite.
Somewhat begrudgingly, I immediately went to my lair to give it a test. Here’s me playing EP376 right after three beers (I nixed the “long walk.”) I think it’s no worse than the original post and actually might be a little better–a little smoother and less “jerky” on some of the faster riffs. I can certainly say I had a lot less stress in playing it after three beers (LOL)!
I don’t know if anybody has posted a scientifically controlled study like this before on AM, so here it is: EP376 after three beers (or Three Beers Blues).
Thanks for the tip, Bobby.
