Hello there,
I am a beginner player, want to play at home only, alone for now.
I am looking for a small but good amp to play blues/jazz, so vintage sound and tube is preferred.
I am gonna buy a fender tele baja.
So far I only found the fender champion 300 that would match my needs, unfortunately there is no headphone plug.
I heard that this amp only gives its best on high volume, which finally doesn’t make ti a good home/quiet amp…
Does anyone think about something else?
Thanks

Tons of choices!!! (around here anyway)
I’ve got a few small amps and play at home also.
A VOX pathfinder 15 (SS)….never had it more than about 12 oclock on volume inside, and sounds great at low volumes. It’s an older korean made one but reviews on the newer ones are great as well. I’d consider it a “one trick pony”….but it’s good at what it does for what it is. $120 new. HAS HEADPHONE
A VOX AC4TV 5 watt/10″ speaker tube combo amp. Love it! $250 NO HEADPHONE
DON’T think 5 watts is loud enough for in the house? Ha-Ha…..ask the wife!
The problem inside is turning the volume loud enough to drive the output tubes into saturation. Mostly works off the preamp.
I played around with a Fender Vibro Champ XD the other day at the store. 1 preamp 1 pwr tube. 15 watts. Has lots of modeling effects some really good tones. Not bad…$200 new. (I’d look at this over the 300) NOT SURE ABOUT HEADPHONE
Tone is just to subjective and up to personal tastes for someone to “tell” you what to buy.
Being new….the Pathfinder would be a great choice.
Heck, I have a lot of fun with my Line 6 pocket pod and headphones. ($40)
Whatever you try/get just remember…..to really hear what the amp can do, use the volume (gain) knob on your guitar. Turn it down and the amp volume up. For example….the Pathfinder volume set at 9 oclock (1/4 volume) with the volume (gain) on the guitar set on 10 rattles the speaker and sounds like crap. Turn the guitar volume (gain) down and the amp up and it cleans up sweet.
I think 70% of guitar players could pull off their guitar control knobs and never miss them…the 10-10’rs 🙁

I Have a few amps and the one that sounds the best that I have is my VOX AD15VT. It gets plenty load and great tone on all volume levels. Has a preamp tube only. Very durable. I think it is replaced now with the VOX AD20VT. Even better. Good luck.

Fender Mustang 1 or 2 . Great amp. Tons of amp models, effects , etc . Master volume as well .
At a $100 for the Mustang 1, hell of a deal.
