Recorded in the dark of night… I get in these moods where I prefer one style over another and I guess I am in my fingerpicking mood-trying to understand the fingerboard, build my chops/repertoire and make things more musical. Here’s some Elizabeth Cotten-Freight Train for ya.

That’s way beyond my ability with finger picking. Very good stuff John.
Root note patterns >>> CAGED shapes >>> TRIAD'S. Just put in the work and watch your guitar skills soar.

Great picking John. It is always good to go out and do something different to the usual repertoire 😊

Kudos to you John for playing what looks like a difficult piece so well!

I love this Elizabeth Cotten’s classic song and you payed homage to it with a very enjoyable rendition, flawlessly finger picked, John!
It’s hard to reproduce the original Elisabeth picking, because she was left-handed and played a flipped right-handed guitar upside down, so the highest strings were up, played with the thumb for the melodies, and the bass strings down, played with the index for the alternated bass: really crazy and one-of-a-kind!
But you did a wonderful job with a standard finger picking!
