Bit of a long shot, but are there any players in the South West that want to meet up? Would be great to play with another person. Happy to travel

          Hi Ben,
Just popping up to say hello.
I am new to the AM site/ community and live in Cardiff.
Not exactly local to you I know, but thought I would say hello anyway.
Trying to improve my guitar skills across a range of styles, which is what drew me to Brian’s excellent teachings.
Very impressed with the range of content on here – just need to focus on a start point to get going properly. Any advice welcome😊
          Cheers

            Hi Huw!

Cardiff isn’t too far away really so definitely something to consider going forward!

How experienced are you at the moment?

I’m not sure if I’m qualified to give advice (yet) but I would say it’s important to focus on one piece at a time to really get it down. We’re definitely spoilt for choice on this site when it comes to content so its hard not to jump between lessons.

Also I would recommend posting videos of your self on the forum. There’s lots of great feedback and support from other members and I’ve found it to be a real boost to my playing and confidence

              Hi Ben,
Agree, not too far and be good to keep in touch anyway if that ok?
Guess I am 2 years into to my guitar journey after picking it up again upon retirement, after a break of too many decades!
Doing some in person weekly local blues classes and then using AM and other online sites to fill in the many gaps in my knowledge.
Having tried some of the more well-known online guitar learning sites. All have good points, but felt like I was missing something and wanted to drill down into more niche areas I enjoy such as most of those taught by Brian. At the moment I seem to be a little fixated on blues/fingerpicking/ travis picking/ solo blues and can see a lot on AM covering those areas.
Think my initial quandary is whether to work through one of Brian’s courses or pick a lesson or two on the above topics instead and work through/practice thoroughly. Literally, too much choice!
Sure I will work it out and appreciate your advice re submitting something to the site. Done a little of this before on another site and agree it is an excellent discipline and keeps you focussed – although quite stressful and frustrating due to constant re-takes.
              Thanks again for your advice.
              Cheers.
