We all have our favourite playlists when it comes to choosing Blues numbers but these three clips are at the top of my favourites list. Maybe slightly obvious but I wish I’d been in on the recording. I hope you enjoy them!
Richard
Lucinda Williams – Hard Time Killing Floor Blues
John Lee Hooker & Bonnie Raitt – I’m in the Mood
Muddy Waters – You Can’t Lose What Ain’t Never Had

I watch a lot of the NPR Tiny Desk Concerts, and Lucinda was there a while back. Check it out if you haven’t seen it:

Hey Richard, those are some great songs. Do you have a favorite album? It might be impossible to name one—go ahead, name as many as it takes.

Hi Don,
Yes, difficult to name just one or even a few, but a number of artists/albums shaped my roots in playing guitar. My milestone records were either solo artists or known rock-bands, namely:-Wish You Were Here – Pink Floyd
Brothers in Arms – Dire Staits
Eight Frames a Second – Ralph McTell
Folk Blues & Beyond – Davy Graham
The Blue Album – Bert Jansch
Basket of Light – The Pentangle
‘N’ Amount of Stefan Grossman & Chet AtkinsI have to stop here as it would get tedious but of course, the list goes on.

Thanks Richard, lists of favorite albums aren’t ever tedious or too long. Seeing those makes me think Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull might be among your next six.

This classic number ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’ has always stood out for me, Martin Tallstrom gives this piece extra zest, he’s a very talented guitarist.

I liked them all, but ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’ is amazing. Martin Tallstrom I’d never heard of. Thanks Richard. You’re a goldmine of great guitarists.
