I thought some of you might like to see an example hook for a song. There is no song here, it’s just an idea that could be the basis for a song. Maybe it will give you some idea’s for creating your own hook for the challenge.

Nice hook, Michael. Seems most pentatonic hooks come out of a motif of good rhythm and jumping intervals, although good tone plays a part.
I liked that tone. Is it from one of your new NDSP app purchases?

Oh, I forgot to mention the tone. That is the Morgan PR12 amp from the NDSP Morgan Amp Suite plugin. Here is the info on the real amp.

            PR12 Combo

It’s a 12 Watt amp that I sure wish I had for real, but it is mainly that black face sound with a better low end tightness to it. You can hear that when I played the note lower down on the neck. I was using compression, a little overdrive, small amount of delay, and the reverb on the amp. The other thing that may have enhanced the sound is there are two audio tracks. One was from the phone camera and the other from direct recording to the DAW. If the tracks didn’t line up precisely, then there might be some effect from hearing both tracks slightly out of phase.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Yes, I caught that cool slightly out of phase sound. I thought it might be an effect in the DAW. Interesting, it would never occur to me to keep the camera mic in the audio.

I had to keep the camera mic on because I forgot to mic my voice directly to the interface. So it was a happy mistake that we can take advantage of in the future if desired.

If there was no recorded speech you could duplicate the guitar track, offset it a little and alter the Eq in the DAW. Maybe do a little stereo panning as well. Lots of fun.
