We have the old rule in music that major is happy and minor is sad, but that’s way too simple. There is so much more to discover in how something is played as well as the tonality. With human feelings being so rich and varied it makes sense that our music would be too. One of the great features of music is that it can make us feel. Most of the time we struggle to put a label on that feeling, but we know the sense of it, the energy of it, and that’s where the richness is.

When it comes to richness of feelings I always think of Harmonic minor, so that is where this composition started. It expanded from there. For me the feeling is one of bittersweet passage of life. So wonderful, yet at every moment you know deep down that you can’t hold on to it. Hope you enjoy it!
