Didn’t have a chance to record something specifically for the challenge, but thought I could share this video from an Open Mic performance last week.
I took the hook that I came up with for the challenge five months ago and turned it into a full fledged song.
I’ve been playing with a mandolinist, calling ourselves “Faded Airwaves”, playing old swing/jazz, Western swing and some bluegrass. Have started booking some gigs.
So hopefully this rendition of “Hot Buns” brings some joy. It’s just a tongue in cheek song.

Congrats on putting yourself out there, Bill. You guys sounded really old timey and terrific.
What a beautiful setting for an open mic. Good luck with the gigs.

Great to see an original piece come to life like that Bill. Well done making everyone hungry for those hot buns.

That sounded great and so did the vocals. Nice!

Excellent Bill, well done for getting on stage and coming up with your original song. I think the emotions evoked are (a) joy (of making great music) and (b) hunger (for hot buns).

Fabulous number Bill, especially as it was developed from your Hook, and now a real stage-ready piece. Your duet looks promising with a unique blend.

How cool is that!!! like that you’re now playing gigs. You have made such huge steps with your guitar playing and jazz soloing. Both mandoline and guitar sound so well together. I love that driving Western rhythm. And you’re also gifted with good vocals. This was a joy to listen to.
Hope to hear more from your gigs….maybe in Europe?More Blues!

Hi Bill,
Congratulations on your duet !…sounding great!
Good combination of guitar, mandolin and vocals. You guys have that early blues style of Charley Patton, Robert Johnson vibe going 🎶🎵🙂Don P

So glad you fleshed out Hot Buns into a full song, Not least because the title alone would have deserved it!
That bounced along with same feeling of delight as the smell of a freshly backed bun. Great solo you ripped out there too. -
