I hope this works. So I’m making this a sticky. Please add on to “THIS STICKY” for any new suggestion you come across. The original post is old and many of the sites no longer exist, plus a lot has changed and happen with all the new technology. But please check it out, just post your new findings on this updated sticky, not the one you see below.
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

I use Mixcraft 8 and what has always made me love it is that is it very easy to use. And it also does video. I don’t know what the cost is anymore as for the last 7-8 years I have only paid for upgrades. It comes with a ton of plug ins and other things. All that being said it’s pretty common for everyone to have a favorite DAW and I think that is because it takes a lot of time to learn them and get comfortable with them and then you are hooked. Ive tried a few others and they were good also but Mixcraft has always been my go to.

Hey Pete, glad you started this forum.
All I want to do is record videos for the forums.
I have a pc laptop running Windows 10.
I like my guitar setup as is, just want to mic my amp, and use a decent camera. Any suggestions for those two pieces?
Does win 10 have usable software to do this? Their photo software mystifies me.
Bottom line is I want to spend time practicing, not learning any more new software.
Total newbie to recording – any ideas for the simplest video setup?
Thanks!

BruceHey Bruce
I don’t think Windows 10 has a recording program like Garage Band that is provided with Mac computers
Reaper is an open source recording software that many use. I’ve used it a few times but I have much to learn about its capabilities.
I’ve provided a link to both Reaper and also a collection of tutorial videos that will help you learn to use it.As far as a camera is concerned, Zoom makes a camera that is specific for musicians. I recently bought the older generation of it as it has all of the feature that I need.
I’ve provided links to both the old version plus the latest model.Hope this helps

BruceHi Bruce
Keith gave you a good answer.
If go into the post that I gave, it was and still is a good resource for VST’s for Reaper.
I think now I should start building it up with current additions. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
