So you guys were too nice. I decided based comments from my Les Paul Tonex post to demonstrate some tones from my PRS Modern Eagle V guitar. I played it through a Mesa Boogie amp capture but turned the cab simulation off and played it through my Boss Katana and Fender Deluxe Reverb effects loop return and recorded via microphone into Scarlet 4i4 into Ableton Live. Some missed notes here and there but really the point was to demonstrate versatility of the guitar and the option of using your amps for volume and power while digital amp simulators. The amp settings stayed the same throughout. The only changes came from 5 way blade pickup selector, splitting Humbuckers to single coil and volume pot on the guitar. Anyways, trying to continue the conversation for those interested in tone from amp modelers as well as tonal variety from a specific guitar. Cheers.

          Thanks Stacy,
This has been so timely for me. I’m definitely in the market for a modeller and leaning toward the Fractal FM9. I was so chuffed to learn that I have the option of plugging into the return of the effects loop. That gives me enough options with the equipment I have without the extra expense of an FRFR cab. I didn’t know the Deluxe Reverb had an effects loop, I know my 68 Reissue Vibrolux doesn’t.
Digital modellers is going to be one of the topics of discussion at the Mar 28th member Zoom call.
That guitar must be the prize of your litter.

John – Check out the Line 6 Helix Series, especially the Helix Stadium models.

Hi John. Glad you found this post helpful. The Fender Blues Deluxe 40 w reissue has an effects loop as does the Boss Katana 100 watt amp. These are the only 2 actual amps I have ever owned so I’m not too sure what other amps have effects loops. I am not familiar with the Fractal FM 9 but I believe any amp modeler that gives the option of turning off the cab sim independent of the amp model will allow you to run it into the return of the effects loop.

Yes, the PRS Modern Eagle V is probably my go to guitar. I enjoy each of my guitars in for what they offer but I enjoy the versatility of the Modern Eagle V with 5 way blade selector and Humbucker coil splits. It is a very comfortable guitar to play as well. Best wishes.

Sounds terrific, Stacey. With AI and modeling, the future will certainly be interesting.

Very nice tones and guitar Stacey 😄. Mind you, I never get this technical with effects. I just have a ME-80,multi effects unit and that takes care of all my needs.

Geoff, I think we are so fortunate to live in an age with so many options to choose from in regards to effects pedals and amp Sims as well as actual solid state and tube amps. Endless possibilities!!

Cool, tasty chops and some great tones. Very smooth sounding. You dialed in some great voicing/timbres. Rock freely my friend.

                            Smooth licks, very melodic.

Live on planet Earth ? You got the blues.
