It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Mojo rules OK!
I subscribed to Acoustic Guitar from the US and to Acoustic from England for a few years and was disappointed with both. Neither had enough interesting content to make the subscription worthwhile. Acoustic Guitar tried hard with music and tablature for exercises and songs but I think they’ve been overtaken by the internet; before Youtube, we only had a few printed pages to choose from but these days we have a multitude of free and very affordable video and downloadable resources (hats off to Brian!). I found it rather eclectic, many of the articles were about players I’d never heard of. It seemed they didn’t have the clout (i.e. readership) to be able to interview the stars. If you live in the USA then Acoustic Guitar would probably be worthwhile for the events and local music news but not for those outside the USA.
Acoustic magazine seemed to aim at real beginners. If you’ve never heard of Neil Young, Steve Howe, John Denver or Django Reinhardt and think a one page introduction will fill in all the gaps, this is the magazine for you. If you are shopping for a brand new guitar model and want to wade through reviews of 4 new guitars every damn month, this is for you but once you’ve got your guitar, those 13 pages are a waste of time. The quality of writing was abysmal and all the article were very brief and frustratingly superficial. Stock and lacklustre photos and a simplistic and dull format.
Mojo magazine, on the other hand, is superb; Pete, please put it at the top of your list. It’s not going to directly help you play better guitar or help you choose your next musical purchase but it will probably do so indirectly by inspiring you with its vibrant and superb in-depth coverage of a broad range of musical stars both young and old, from various genres and decades, including interviews, lengthy articles, wonderful photos you’ve never seen before, excellent journalism, a free and usually very enjoyable CD every month, news, letters, reviews of CDs, books and concerts, a crossword etc.
I’m throwing out all my Acoustic and Acoustic Guitar issues but treasure my 12 year collection of Mojo.

Well now I feel completely deficient, because I don’t read or subscribe to any such magazine. On the other hand, I have subscribed to some music related Youtube channels (Reverb, Playing for Change, HDPinkFloyd, Andertons, etc). I never really check in on them, but the Youtube algorithm knows that I have subscribed, so when I open Youtube, it recommends the latest or most popular stuff from those channels. So much to do, and so little time….

Jonathan, I added it. Thanks. Must admit I never heard of the magazine. Looks like it really is loaded with good info.

Well I have to agree with Jonathan, Mojo is an excellent music mag…and so is Uncut…I usually get one or the other, sometimes both since they both do a similar job in digging into the past, but just as important, keeping me up to speed on new bands and artists. Just like the wonderfully eclectic music on BBC radio 6. And they’re all great for gig alerts.
Starcrawler is my next gig…(again). -

Guitar Techniques by far!! on IPad the tab plays the guitar and a backing track. click any headline and you are instantly there.

I used to rabidly consume Computer Music, Future Music, DJ mag, Sound On Sound, Recording, and anything else I could find. I even had an ad in FM. After a while, I realized everything is just re-hashed techniques on different platforms and essentially a giant book of advertisements so I stopped buying them. Every now and then I’ll check out an interview with a favorite artist if it comes up. The best though was Future Music (best music maker) I thought. Fred Falke, Kissy Sell Out, and Far Too Loud were my favorite issues of all time.

I don’t subscribe to any. Before the internet I used to subscribe to some that had tabs for songs. The best came from England and was called, Guitar Techniques. Same one Gary E mentioned.
I still have stacks of those magazines in the basement. -

Living Blues magazine goes back over 5 decades, and they always have something of interest to guitarists. There are both paper and digital subscriptions; when you subscribe to the hard copy, you also get the digital subscription.
I used to subscribe to Guitar Player and Acoustic Guitar in the ’90s. Both had things I liked in every issue.
