Olivier Messaien

Back in the day when this site was iBreatheMusic.com (at least that’s what my index card said initially), someone swooned over the fact that I had met and talked with (in French) Olivier Messaien, back in, I believe, 1973.

A couple weeks ago, I sifted through the last of three boxes sent to me from my brother of “ephemera “ (I’m old enough now that we could call it that?) from my HS and college days that had been left at home. (I thought I had cleared everything out before starting my first teaching job in September 1974.)

I did not realize it, but in that box was a page bearing autographs from both Olivier Messaien and his wife, Yvonne Loriod! I don’t ever recall asking for them.

I kind of wondered how much I could get for it on eBay, but I will just keep it.

Just in case someone is drooling out there, I thought it would be fun to mention.

Nice story, Lucille, but in the 1970s I was in New Zealand and never heard of Olivier Messaien. Maybe you could shoot a video of yourself playing one of his songs.
