Riff practice, these may not be exactly as I was taught, I may be getting my Riffs and Solos mixed up. Anyway I made up Riff 4 as I thought it went with the backing track.

Great sounding A minor pentatonic licks, Jennifer. Riff 4 fit very nicely.

That was great Jenny, your licks fitted the backing track perfectly and were really interesting in themselves. Plenty to borrow there!

These were all nicely performed licks and you should definitely indulge your impulse to make up stuff!
As Brian would probably say, it is great to learn to copy the playing of others, but you also should begin to assimilate the work of others into your own style — as you are apparently beginning to do. Keep at it!
Is that when licks become riffs?

Coming right along Jenny! Good timing and your bends and slides are well placed and add a lot of feeling.

Notice you were using your pinky finger, and that’s awesome. Nice selection of minor licks.

Nicely done, Jennifer. While these licks were played in a consistently good and orderly manner, the appeal of the backing track also made them interesting and a great sound for future songs.

Very cool selection of licks and extremely well played too. I’m impressed by your attention to detail, like using all your fingers, including the little one and getting those bends spot on.
And that lick you made up was very nice, when you start coming up with those, you know you’re making great progress.👍 -

Hi Jenny, I love your intro – I laughed along with you re the ‘scales’ thing :-). I like the licks and the setting to that bass line (piano man? ) … it really worked – I could imagine that developed into a fully worked up piece. Keep it up!

Nice Jenny. I like the way you varied the rhythm of each lick as well as their positions.

You’re getting it Jennifer! Every time you post something I see progress in your playing. And now you made me doubt that I know the difference between a lick, a riff, and a solo. Is it just the length?

Wow, Jenny – this sounded really good! Loved the bass-y rhythm track, it reminded me of “Hit the Road, Jack” vibe 🙂
Your playing was so smooth and clear, great timing and a nice tone – you’re getting better and better so fast!🎸JoLa

Definitely better than scales, Jenny and with bends and drills. Wow! Great work! And your licks go so well with that backing track. And your own made up lick is at least as good as the others. I have to say your challenge contributions are really inspiring.

Very well done, Jenny. I loved the reduced backing track with the bass line. That was a cool background for your riffs and licks. Precise playing , clear tone – 👍🏽

Wow, well done Jenny. I like these bass lines you used as a backing track. Some very nice riffs. I especially liked the one with the blue note.
You are getting better and better!

Hi Jenny , you slotted those licks in perfectly to the backing track , played with a true sense of timing leaving a few rest beats , your progress is evident making that last lick your own .

Loved it Jennifer, I thought your blue note in Lick 1 and hammer-on in Lick 2 sounded just great and set the scene. Your playing has certainly progressed a lot this year, I’m so pleased for you.

Sounded great, Jenny! You chose a backing track in A minor that has a very similar descending bass line to one of my tracks, so I can only appreciate it, very cool! And your collection of licks were very nice and flawlessly played, with a great timing. Just nice to see and and hear amazing improvements every challenge: excellent job!

Your submissions always put a huge smile on my face. You nailed it and the 4th riff fit right in. No wonder you were smiling at the end.
