    Hi all,
New member from Newcastle England. Just wanted to say hi and ask a few questions whilst here, so any answers will be much appreciated.
Firstly not sure how or if you can start a new forum topic so I’ve ended up here.
I’ve been playing guitar for a couple of years, just mainly open chords a few scales and songs ets, I’ve recently been drawn to blues in the acoustic form and have been sucked into Brian’s Web of fantastic resources. His playing style that I saw on social media, I think maybe ep315 is exactly how I’m wanting to play.
I’ve done a kind of recap and completed the beginner course, question is where do I go next as there is so much content and information. Also how competently do you thi k I should be playing barre chords before leaving the beginner course completely behind, I play them all no problem but not too often whilst playing music. Biggest question though is where do I go next to get me to the end game of playing acoustic blues.
    Hi all again and thanks.

Hi Alan, welcome to AM and the forum. To make a post in a particular heading of the forum you simply need to browse to the forum root/home page by using the forum short cut at the top of a forum page between weekly lessons and my account and then browse categories to find the appropriate section and open that category to see its topics. If having opened the category you then make your post at the bottom of that and you will see it calls for:-

“Create New Topic in “Forum Help And Other Tutorials””
here i had browsed into the ‘help and other tutorials’ and thus if I had made a post there by filling in the info boxes it would have been placed there.

If you want to just study the Acoustic lessons you can simply do a search for Acoustic blues in the search and all the lessons will be listed. There is a filter button for this listed as ‘Blues Acoustic Guitar Lessons’.
One of the best things about AM is the vast selection and what you wont realize is that Brain largely repeats all that he teaches and so one can step in more or less any were within the area you choose and get going and you will not be missing out. One point is that the Soundslice is an invaluable tool and it is only introduced from EP091 and on up. Brian seems to be moving slightly to more advanced topics in the last series (say 350 up approx) but that is not to say you shouldn’t look there. I would do a search and see what you like the sound of note a few such lessons and have a go at them just dive in and over time it will all become apparent. Also many of the lessons are just as good on electric as acoustic so bear that in mind when you are searching. A classic examples of that would be 213 and 214. And a great blues finger style is 366 so there it is .
      Have a great tiem

Welcome Alan. Just about everyone who joins AM asks the same question: Where do I go next? The answer is, you just go straight to the lesson you like the most. Once you’ve learned that, just pick another one, ad infinitum. It’s the “trickle-down theory” of learning to play guitar. Meanwhile, make sure you can play the pentatonic scale positions all up and down the neck. That can be a work in progress. And – importantly – every day you should put on a jamtrack and try noodling along with it. As Brian has pointed out, you can do some pretty good improv just using 3 or 4 notes. That’s assuming you want to be able to create your own music on the fly, instead of just being a robot and learning “songs”. And don’t waste any more time working on those bar chords. Full bar chords are seldom used, and as you practice more, your fingers will get stronger and faster, so they will just come naturally when they are occasionally needed.
