So yeah, I’m familiar with Mike Bloomfield but not SUPER familiar. I’ve heard some of the stuff he did with Al Kooper and have always appreciated his approach to playing. His playing style reminds me a lot of BB King meets Eric Clapton. The thing I never liked about his style though is his vibrato – too spastic… it’s like fingers on a chalk board to me. I tend to judge guitar players by all of the nuances that make up their playing… the way they bend strings, sldie to notes, vibrato, etc. the stuff that makes it sound like the human voice.

He was a great player though and played with some of the best musicians – born in Chicago too I believe? As for doing a lesson on him I probably won’t be, simply because I’m not familiar enough with his work. That being said, feel free to suggest some stuff to me because I’m always looking for new stuff.

He did a lovely album called ‘Super Session” in the ’60’s with Al and someone else. There were a couple of really haunting and classic blues sounds there….take your point about vibrato, but this one’s worth a listen……
