This challenge was good fun, a chance to release our creative juices. In 2 more days, I’m off to Florida to bury the ashes of my mother-in-law (she almost made it to 102) and tidy up some business issues. It’s a 12 hour overnight flight, and we arrive in LA feeling like zombies. I haven’t been to America in several years, so I’m sure I will feel like a stranger in a strange land. I won’t be back to my home in New Zealand for almost a month, so I won’t be able to participate in the June challenge. This one is self-explanatory:

That’s really cool adding organ with AI. Great work on all the instrumentation. Lot’s of fun.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Great pick for the challenge Steve, and nice added layers to the basic lick!! Welcome back to Florida, but sorry for the news of your Mother-In-Law!! That is quite a feat to reach that age!
While in the area, maybe you can hang 10 near the inlet pier for old times sake, and relive some great memories!! Sal -

It will be interesting what your overall experience is like coming back, especially since it’s LA. Most of America is nothing like LA and never will be. Sorry for your loss.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Hi, Steve!
It’s been a while. Great old blues classic and I’m sure Brian has a lesson like that too. Wish you a nice trip and happy homecoming soon! Sorry for you loss, Steve, but 102 is great result of living.
Stay well!

Well done Steve – you picked out the most recognisable blues lick ever. Your additions really enhanced the original – great playing.

Very good blues Steve. I loved the way you layered in all the instruments. Very impressive. My condolences for your MIL.

That was a lot of fun. Brilliant orchestration around one of the most recognisable blues licks ever, But you sure that was AI? and not the creative juices in that magician’s mug?
My condolences for the loss of your mother in law, hope the trip to America goes well. Are you going to sneak in a World Cup game while you’re there? -

Oh, how fun it must have been to work this groove with the most recognizable blues lick ever! Nice layering, love the bass line with a great tone and a very cool ending. Great harmonica skills as well, what is a bluesman without a harp, right? I have never tried the Logic Pro’s AI helpers but now I’m intrigued, the organ part did what expected pretty well! Hope your trip to the old homeland and back is not too cumbersome and sorry about the loss of the family member. Almost 102 is not bad, indeed!

A great blues exploration, Steve, which proves that sometimes one riff is all it takes. It’s great how you’ve developed that piece.
I’m sorry to hear about your loss, but I hope you have a good time in Florida after Zombie-Time.Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be July
There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum
I look forward to meet you.

The same lick repeated throughout would not hold my attention for long but that is one of the best licks ever and I liked the way you spiced it up.

I am amazed how you can think in so many layers. So creative to use a repetitive riff and surround it with layered instruments. Very catchy. All the best in your travels. I remember your last visit to your mother-in- law and she was still living in her own home. An amazing life.

Steve, sorry to learn of the loss of your mother-in-law. Just thinking about the trip to FL makes me tired. Anyway, this submission was pretty crafty. I love the way you stay up with technology. It is inspiring! Using AI is pretty crafty. Nice finger style playing on this old classic. You are a multi talented guy:). Cheers…and borrow a guitar while you’re in FL….you can do the challenge if you want ….you can just keep it to one instrument. Safe travels. Pap
