Hello AM’rs,
I learned some licks and ideas from EP 172. I added them to the Bluegrass tune Wildwood Flower. I could have gone on for a while but decided to distill this video to the ideas that I used from Brian’s lesson to incorporate into this Carter Family Style tune.
Instead of starting with a non-conventional D9 and G13 chord I used that idea to end the tune and thought it was very fitting.
I have been pretty busy but wanted to submit this before the deadline. I will look at everyone’s post over the next few days.
Hope everyone is well.

The song that gave birth to country music. Nice one Pap.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Brilliant idea, Pap! You took Brian’s ideas and used them on a well known classic song instead of the other way round – and played it so well! I see you gravitate towards your acoustic guitar and bluegrass music more and more. Your flat picking chops are improving by the minute – sounding really good!

Hi Pap glad you made it , I’ve just had a listen to EP 172 and it goes so well with wildwood flower I can see why you chose those licks , good catch !
Your bluegrass playing has come on heaps , it’s a great style to get under your fingers.
Well done .Martin

Way to go Pap, I play that song all the time lately, since I’ve been trying to improve my cross picking skills. Have a look at Molly Tuttle’s video on how to cross pick it, if you haven’t seen it already.

Good one Pap. So smoothly played too.

Great stuff Pap, a really good idea to use that song as a basis. It’s one that we never tire of hearing. Your licks fitted in so well, I could have listened to another couple of verses.
