I took the themes from the May challenge (“Repurposing Licks”) and ML143 (“Use What You Know”) as the starting point. I lifted a few of the licks from ML143, and put them over an A to D jam (In the style of “Feeling Alright.”) and added some of my own rhythm chords and improv.
Bass by me, drums by GarageBand. Thanks for listening!

Really good Alan. Definitely had that Dave Mason sound to it.

That’s a cool two chord jam, Alan. Love your bass line and your borrowed licks worked into the groove nicely.

Great groove Alan. We’re getting some retro vibes this month, and it’s great! I like the clean simplicity of a lot of your licks. Great sound.

Oh yeah, that sounded fantastic, Alan! Awesome – professional, of course! – bass line at the foundation and the guitar chords starting the lead – very classy!

Sounds like some pretty cool jazz to me. If there were live music at a restaurant, this is what I would like to hear. Well played, Alan!

Excellent submission Alan. I’m hearing some nice dynamics and solid rhythm, so you get high marks for this one.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Nice two-chord jam, Alan! I was immediately inspired to pick up my guitar and join in. But it was a lot of fun just listening, too.

Lovely jazzy feel to this, Alan, with plenty of space between licks, letting them sink in. It has almost a conversational feel to it. Great music.

Groovy, Alan! The backing track is a great choice for this challenge. You are really precise on the bass, too. that means something in my book. The guitar – tone and playing – is a perfect fit. Love it!
