Hi AMers,
I’m unsure if this is the right place to ask, but I’m hoping someone may have some wisdom to share.
I’m currently learning to play the piano however I’m having issues remembering what note is which on the musical stave. There are some that I can remember, but more often than note I go completely blank when trying to read music.
Other than continual trial and error, are there any methods that are useful?
Thanks in advance to anyone who may have tips

It’s not that hard once you work with it enough. There are two clefs the bass clef (F clef) and the treble clef (G clef). The way I learned the treble clef was Every Good Boy Does Fine Always, for the notes on lines. The spaces spell F A C E. pretty easy. Take a look at the following video for a good overview of everything. I have a lot more info on it, but don’t want to overwhelm you. It’s great that your looking into it. I think it is a great skill to have and it will definitely help when you get into writing tab in Soundslice or Guitar Pro. I’m working on some helpful video’s on the Soundslice App right now as a matter of fact.

Ah, I see you were talking about learning piano. I skipped over that word on first read. Learning how to read musical notation is a must for piano. It’s still a great idea to learn some basic chords and arpeggio’s on the piano. The left hand right hand thing is a bit tricky, but it going to get easier and easier the more you do it. Don’t start with anything difficult. Keep it real simple.
The piano requires the full grand staff with both the bass clef and the treble clef at the same time. If you watch the following video, it explains the grand staff really well so you understand how both middle C notes are the same in both clefs. It’s going to take some practice to get used to it, but it will start to make more sense as you work through it.
Fast forward to the 9 minute mark. He does a good job of seeing the big picture all while sitting on that famous bucket.

Thanks very much for this Michael. Scotty West is the best. I’ve been working my way through his series but didn’t get this far so will be watching now.
And I’ve been doing the very basics so far. I’m a pro at twinkle twinkle little star haha

Brilliant! I’m currently learning some very basic Beatles pieces and The Bare Necessities. Very humbling so far!
