Hi everyone. I’m new to the forums although have been learning from Brian/active melody for a year or so (perhaps a bit longer).
This is the first piece I’ve recorded that I’ve been quite happy with, other than the slight error at the end and the poor recording and audio quality.
Any feedback would be appreciated although I appreciate I didn’t film my hands very well. To be honest it’s just nice to be able to share what I’ve learnt!
If anyone can recommend similar pieces to learn that would be great

Welcome to the forum Ben and thanks for sharing. Great playing! Don’t stress about video, we’ve all started at the same point. At each video/performance we learn and improve. Off the top of my head EP222 and EP361 are worth looking at but really there are so many … All the best! 😎🎸😎

The video is not viewable at the moment for some reason.
The moment you start posting recordings of yourself, there is no going back. It’s a fun process that will take you to the next level quicker.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Removed by YouTube for copyright infringement apparently. Great start! Haha

My Dec 2025 Challenge based on the EP 444 Quist backing track is still up but a few members had copyright issues as well.

Oh, I forgot about that issue that Quist had. Those YouTube algo’s can be brutal sometimes. I used Sound Cloud at the time I did that track so no issues, but it was only because I was still going through recording video pains. I wonder if Vimeo would get past the issue?

I’ve queried it with YouTube but never mind. I put myself out there, albeit briefly haha

Hey guys, sorry this happened. I actually had those copyright strikes as well and had to clear it up with Quist – I think it’s all due to the drum track that he used. I will skip doing these with any jam track that I didn’t create myself going forward.

Hi Ben,
Welcome to the forum, glad to see this made it through the copyright strike.
Nicely played, wouldn’t seem right without at least one mistake in my experience

It appears like the original video uploaded just passed the copyright check and is now available for viewing. Fantastic work Ben, you are clearly making great progress in your guitar skills.

This has been bothering me ever since you posted it. I feel like it’s still a risk worth taking to include Quist tracks in future collaborations mainly because, I believe he is likely going to take extra precautions himself before creating his tracks. As long as no one is getting strikes against them and it’s just a monetization thing, it’s worth the risk of future occurrence of technical difficulties.
Doing pre testing on the track will catch most of the issues up front, but of course there is never any guarantee of changes to their database won’t get updated later. I still think it is worth the risk. Look how many great Quist tracks made it through the gauntlet of scrutiny.
