Can anyone tell me how to get foot pedal control of music? I mainly look for songs to learn on Youtube and often struggle with having to reach out with my right(strumming) hand to start the song, only to miss a few beats. I often see guitar teachers on Youtube that simply step on a pedal to control their background music, What are they using? Can it be used for youtube on a desktop? I see something called a Page Turner that flips Kindle/I-Pad sheet music, but I don’t think that is what I need. I also know of a Looper pedal, but that seems like its only for recording my own strumming and not for starting and stopping a recording on my computer. Is there even such a thing?
I recently saw a guy on Youtube giving a blues lesson doing just this, with a foot pedal, but I think he was viewing the song on a tablet or Ipad.
I use a desktop to learn songs on You Tube, but I do have an I-Pad if that’s the only way to make this work.
Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks,
Bill -

Hi Bill,
I’ve not used one of these, but I think this is what you are looking for. Seems a great idea.

Thank you Doug, I researched the Vidami pedal you sent me the link for and you were right. It is just what I was looking for. I just got mine and set it up. It’s awesome; works just like they say. Easy to set up and works on several other lesson site along with You Tube videos. The best part is being able to stop/start a video with the tap of a button. And the loop and speed functions are going to make practice SO much easier.
Highly recommend this pedal for anyone practicing or learning songs on YoutubeThanks again,

I have had a Vidami pedal for a while and use it all the time. It is a great tool, stop, start, back 10, forward 10, different speed options and looping. It will work on YouTube but will not work on the Activemelody site. So, you can use it to watch Brian’s first weekly video on YouTube but you can’t use it to watch the same video on the Activemelody site or the “premium members” video.

I think you can now use Vidami with all Active Melody videos including Soundslice, as long as you use Google Chrome.

Your iPad would need to have a USB port in order to connect Vidami. I don’t use iPads so I’m not sure if they have it. The Vidami website mentions computers only.

Yikes, I ordered a Vidami based on Brian’s video. I’m running Safari on an iMac. Seems to meet the criteria that Vidami needs. The pedal works on YouTUbe and Vimeo but only stop/start works on ActiveMelody. Any help please? I ordered it primarily for use on this site! In fact, when I set Safari Vidami preference to “allow” it doesn’t work at all on AM. 🙁

Wow, Wayne at Vidami saw my post on YouTube and phoned me, on Labor Day, to walk me through settings to make sure the pedal would work on AM. And it does! Can’t quite explain why, but walking through Safari extension settings in the order he suggested worked. Awesome customer support!

Hi All
I can confirm Vidami Blue works on Active Melody in Chrome on a Mac while I can’t get it to work in Safari. I have an M1 Mac Mini.
