Nice work, that’s not an easy one but you obviously have been working on it. It’s great that you are sharing your work.
There is something a little off about the way you are holding your pick. It might be the camera angle, but it looks like your holding the pick at an extreme upward angle (tip pointing upward). This is OK if your just doing rhythm strumming with mostly down strokes, but when you incorporate single note lead playing in between the rhythm parts, you will be much better off with a more neutral pick angle. The pick can be rotated forwards any amount you feel comfortable with, but try and keep it more level so the tip is level with the back of the pick.
This was the first video I found as a good example. There are many others you can check out as well, but it’s worthwhile to make sure you have a good foundational way of doing it that is within reasonable parameters to make everything easier on yourself.
The only other piece of advice I can give that will help tremendously in your overall playing is to practice everything with a metronome at a pace you can work with at first. There is no need for speed yet. This particular lesson is a great lesson on getting your triad shapes down on the 4th, 3rd, and 2nd strings, so it’s a really good one.
You can use a phone app or computer and head phones, but 120bpm is a bit too fast for you at present, so try it at 100bpm. That’s about 75% if you use the SoundSlice app for playback speed. I think that would be a good tempo to start with. You can type any incremental value into soundslice tempo like 78% to adjust it to your liking. way I’m holding the pick. I reckon it’s because the guitar is at too much of an angle so I could see what I was doing. Maybe should’ve waited until I knew the lesson better!
I’ve just seen the lesson again (2nd part) and Brian has no angle at all on the guitar. I obviously can’t play it as fluently as Brian but I played it again with no angle on the guitar and it did sound better. Thanks -

ThanksIt’s a seemingly small detail, but I guarantee it will make a big difference. The type of pick could also make a difference, but one thing at a time.
