This was a super fun track to play along to. I think I went through three versions of improve on this one. There is a part about halfway through the video where you will see me do more of a rhythm part to this track which was something I just stumbled on that sounded pretty good and could be developed even further.

I’ll keep working on making improvements to this as time goes by since there is a lot of room for improvement. The telecaster is a heavy guitar that always gives me a stiff neck from playing too much. One of these days, I’ll work on getting some better recording equipment for better sound quality but this is the quick and dirty low tech version.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Played well… with confidence, and your tone is better than you think. A simple iPhone goes a long way. You have a nice command of the fingerboard, juxtaposing between rhythm and lead real good!
Fantastic job. Keep ’em coming, I’ma fan😎🎸.

            Hey Mike,
I love the rhythms and muting you put in those solos, sounded very unique and original.

That sounded great Michael. I liked the way you interspersed the lead and rhythm with the rakes. Really cool job. I think you could post this for the upcoming Challenge.

Great lesson and super playing Michael. You’ve definitely got a great feel for the blues and sound/tone is pretty good from my end. All the best and keep ‘em coming. 🎅🎸🎅

I couldn’t do any of this three years ago. So I owe a lot to what I learned from Brian here on AM. The other thing is once I learned more about basic music theory and of course how it fits into CAGED, that really leveled up my playing and ability to grasp what Brian packs into his lessons.

The funny thing is I don’t play electric guitar that much until a week ago when EP626 came out, it’s mostly acoustic guitar. Eventually, I want to learn how to finger pick. I have a long way to go in that department.

So for anyone that is new to the site, don’t be discouraged if your not where you want to be yet. It all takes time and the right attitude for learning things outside of your comfort zone.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

This is terrific, Mike. As musicians, we need to inject emotion into notes, otherwise they’re just notes on paper. You certainly accomplished that. Technique is spot-on (great bends!) and the tone you selected works well. Well done, sir.

Brilliantly played! Great in alternating rhythm strummed/muted parts and leads, really this technique comes natural and flawless from your hands! Liked also the simple camera recording of the sound coming out from your amp with the room natural reverb, it feels very genuine. Great rendition.

Nice! Love the vibe! Now this is entirely personal preference, but you might want to give it a shot on the neck pickup. Well done nonetheless.

I struggled just to balance out the backing track volume and my amp sound without any software. I can get great sound out of my amp when it’s turned up louder, but at lower levels it just doesn’t sound as good. But then I have to use a DAW to mix the two sounds to get the levels right. I just bought one of those DI’s that comes with a DAW, but I have no idea how to use it yet. Once I figure it out, look out for a much better sound.

For things like these, my philosophy is that I’m probably not the first one with that “problem” or need. Somewhere, there’s a tutorial, a forum or whatever with exactly what I need.
