Any suggestions for guitar/amp settings to get the tone Brian has in the lesson? I’m playing a Fender Strat through a Roland Cube 20XL. (small room!) Have a Boss Blues Driver and an OCD pedal.
Thanks
catching someone’s tone is always a challenge, there’s so many variables, the guitar, the amp (or modeller), pedals, even strings make a tone difference, not to mention picking style. In this case Brian’s using a Kemper profiler which can copy and change real amps or endless presets that can all be tweaked, so it’s tough to copy the tone you hear on any recording.
I spent a lifetime chasing other people’s tones, and in the end here’s my position on this:
Explore your own gear and find tones that you like, that come close to what you like in others’ tones. Play with all the switches and knobs on your axe, try every combination of amp/pedals, find 2 or 3 tones that work for different styles (country, blues, rock). And in the end, develop your own tone.
Thanks for your reply.
