I just finished learning this lesson, recorded it and tried to upload to Utube. This lesson used a Quist backing track and was one of the song options for the December challenge. When I uploaded it I got a Copyright Issue. I deleted it. Lot’s of members used this song for the last challenge. Any thoughts on this?

Sounds like a false positive. There should not be a copyright for personal use of the Quist tracks. The whole purpose of them is to jam to the track. Try and get an explanation for the notice. Those algorithms are not perfect.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

              David,
It’s obviously an error. How did you name the file you uploaded to YouTube? I would rename it and reupload it. Also, there are many kinds of copyright notices, most of the time it will say something like, “the owner allows the song to be on YouTube”, or “the video will be demonetized “ which I’m sure it’s not an issue in your case. I upload some cover songs for my friend and get a copyright notices every time but it’s just informational. The videos stay on YouTube.

Nevertheless yes, you should have never got a copyright notice in the first place. You can dispute it, since it’s an obvious error.

It happened to me once too but it was just a notice, not a strike, and I was able to publish it anyway.

I asked Quist and he said “I’m working with a company who has quite an active content ID team, so they’re claiming on a lot of videos that has my music on them. I’ve had to go and release claims on a bunch of videos I didn’t want to be claiming on (although legally I could of course) – good news is, I can go into their system and release most unwanted claims myself – and I just did that with yours (and one on RD’s video).”

I’m sure it will eventually get worked out.

I had a Copyright claim on my EP444 video too. It said the owner allows use on YouTube and it doesn’t affect my channel. I’m guessing Quist establishes copyright on his track and as long as you don’t monetize it, no big deal. It might be different if you try to make some $$ off the video.

Thanks to all of you that posted. The problem has now gone away. Don’t know what the problem was, as some suggested a hickup of sorts.
