Chord question

Hello everyone, it’s been over 3 years since I was last here- can’t believe it!

So I’ve got a tricky chord question.

The tune is in F major. And after a while this series of chords appears:
D7 – Gm – D7 – Gm.

I want to know what the Roman-numeral chord would be for the D7 chord.

I think it may be V/ii, but it could be V/II. Or something else??

Any thoughts out there? Thank you!

Gm is the ii chord in F major.

D7 is the dominant of Gm, so:

**V/ii – ii – V/ii – ii**

Look up info on secondary dominants. EP370 is a good one. The short answer is that D7 is the FIVE of G and not part of the normal roman numeral for the key of the song. It’s just a way to add more tension before reaching the Gm chord. In your song example, it happens twice D7 Gm D7 Gm, but the concept is still the same.
