Last week, I came across a jam track that would be a great exercise for transcribing and ear training. Its call Gospel Blues in G and its a slow blues progression, complete with some arpeggio picking, reminiscent of the 50s & 60s slow blues. Add a little tremolo to your tone chain and you’re good to go!
Probably titled Gospel Blues because it is very much a major blues in structure. This is not your typical I – IV – V progression, it has some nice twists that will be a good challenge to transcribe.
One hint – it is very close to the progression of an older Gary Moore tune. Which one? Sorry, don’t want to ruin your fun of transcribing it because the progression is readily available on the web. Gary’s tune is in a different key so if you find the tab, you will have the fun of transposing it as well
So, if you want to chit chat Chet, lemme know. This is a good way to apply what Brian has been teaching in his lesson.
