I just listened to an album I’ve had for some time by Jeff Healey, called “Cover To Cover.” I bought it after hearing him play “Stuck In The Middle With You”, the old Stealers Wheel (Gerry Raffertey) song on the soundtrack of a movie. Another album worth buying if you don’t have much of Jeff Healey is The Very Best of The Jeff Healey Band. For me, just his version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps is worth the price of this CD but there is not one dodgy track on either album.

Jeff was an amazing talent, shame his life was cut short.

And I’m impressed – you called it right on Stealers Wheel being the original band that released Stuck in the Middle With You. Most have forgotten about them and Gerry Rafferty. There were several of those bands in the early to mid 70s that were really good. Music shifted to disco and all of those bands fell to the wayside.

I’m going to start a thread called Forgotten & Little Known 70s southern rock & rock bands, lets see if we can generate some discussion.

Unfortunately Gerry Raffertey passed away recently too. Most people would know him from his hit, “Baker Street”, but I have an album from the 1970’s by The Humblebums which is Gerry Rafferty & Billy Connolly & is a folky style with the occasional humorous song. I don’t think too many people would have that one. I also have a CD by Gerry called “North & South” which is one of my favorite albums.

I didn’t know that Gerry had passed away but from Wikipedia, it would appear that he drank himself to death, very slowly.

Lonesome Dave from Foghat and George Harrison both died of cancer. I’m sure there are several that we don’t know about.

I look @ Keith Richards, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts and others and wonder how their body has held up through all of the abuse and excess that they are reported to have. Gregg is sober now and had a liver transplant. Still sings and plays great but looks pretty rough. Alive but rough

Keith Richards is definitely a walking miracle. I’m sure scientists are praying that he leaves his body to science for study if & when he eventually passes away. Problem is that it may take a while for anyone to notice. LOL

                  Do you have this album

The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete
