I know most on here are in to learning blues, In the main we have either had blues or c&w lessons and I would like to see another lesson in the same vain as the terrific 3 part Jazz lesson we had or something once again along the lines of “Gypsy Waltz” which is a tremendous party piece to play.
Hopefully a few other on site would like to have some lessons which caters for their taste buds, So what do you say guys and girls?...Billy..

Maybe a mini lesson, or full lesson, on Travis picking or country folk. Or even another bluegrass type.

I agree Billy that it would be great to see more jazzy lessons although my guess is that Brian pays close attention to the preferences which the majority of the premium membership have expressed and that his output reflects this. There’s always something of interest in each lesson, I expect you would agree.

Oh for sure Brian, certainly not saying that there is nothing of interest in the lessons, another style of music is all I am talking about.

for Brian’s site modest annual fee, with the weekly lessons and all the many to research and fallback on,, I am very satisfied here. But I do venture elsewhere to learn stuff a bit more advanced and some very challenging but fun! if it is too hard , I try whatever and put it away until another day..baby steps do pay off eventually,, got to crawl before you can walk ,,even if at our late time/age we are rolling downhill on the mountain of life lol

Hello Billy,
there is really much more Stuff to learn here for me, I ever will be able to do. But anyway I m always a curious guy. Interesting for me would be some Styles of Rockabilly, of Bluegrass, of old Soul-music (Otis Redding, Sam Cooke …), of Neill Young & Co., of Beatles, of Shadows, of Irish Folk, of Slide-Guitar, of open tunings and … and … and.
In case of Blues it strikes me, that obviously all Songs are more or less in traditional 12 bar pattern. I would like playing some with a quick change.Dieter

I would think Brian selects his lesson styles ‘carefully’ to satisfy a wide range of tastes among the AM members, his balance between acoustic and electric styles are, I’m sure, we’ll considered and monitored. I’ve noticed in recent months Brian’s preference for using his B&G which seems to lend itself to a wider range of guitar styles.
For my own personal preference I would like to see more fingerstyle blues and ragtime styles but I realise that is not the majority choice amongst members in this Forum.
I then consider the ‘vast’ amount of members who don’t participate in this forum let alone the many many people who follow Brian/AM on Facebook, we don’t know about their musical preferences but, I suspect Brian’s marketing skills will give him a good idea.Richard

I’m here for the blues and I like there are so many different styles.
Brian does a wonderful job and while I don’t like every lesson, it really doesn’t matter because it takes me weeks sometimes months to learn one.

When people first join AM, I think most of them – like me – just memorized lessons that were in a style they enjoy. It’s learning by copying, which works very well. After 4 years, I don’t need to copy so much, because I’ve reached the point where if I want to, I can copy any lesson Brian has made so far. Instead, what I’m doing now is looking for lessons that will broaden my overall understanding of the guitar, and there are lots of earlier lessons that have opened doors for me. The last challenge – EP280 – was a huge milestone for me, because it forced me to knuckle down and learn ALL the chord voicings up and down the neck. Now I know them. Brian’s lessons on modes were also very good, and I would like to see more of them. I have learned the Dorian mode very well, for example, and I can easily do improv in it. BUT – I don’t know the Dorian scale all over the neck, just in the first and second positions, so there is something I could work on. Also, the lessons Brian has done involving a famous player’s style are always interesting to me. The Santana lesson was a breakthrough for me, also the earlier Hendrix style lessons, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, etc etc. But there are lots of guitarists who have a particular style and have not yet been covered by Brian: Taj Mahal, Richie Havens, Ry Cooder, Etta Baker, Elizabeth Cotton, Keb’ Mo’, Stephen Stills, Mississippi John Hurt…..to name a few. And David Gilmour was only done once, so it would be nice to delve into his style a bit more. But to truly learn jazz is way beyond the scope of Active Melody. And the prolific Justin Sandercoe at Justinguitar.com says the same thing.

I like sites with learning well known classic/famous guitar tunes,, was trying a few.. thing is I actually get bored with them compared to anything Brian does,, I think I figured out why too,,, most these sites have no interaction forums.. some just give tab and others give tab and soundslice.. this site not only does both but the lessons are short and really good quality.. actually much better quality because tabliture even a side video doesn’t show as close up as when Brian does it with his last “slow play through” which is why I know I’ll stick around for some time!.. I was just over at dojo ..playing the blaclbelt lessons and most if not all the lessons i CUT TO HALF THE SOUNDSLICE SPEED,, STILL NEED a close up on the fingering positions and movements on the fret board,, reason mostly because it is without a doubt crucial to know which fingers are used in them fast riffs..(not going to use a pinky finger if the instructor is using a stretched ring finger for a fast legato).. think you advanced players know what I mean… As for this topic,, Billy’s request,, I honestly don’t know what to say except, you have to try harder..most of these lessons are so doable.. compared to other stuff I been challenged with last few weeks! I come back here because any lesson here is a lot fun compared to some of the recent sites I’m trying..I also miss my jazz free ebook for beginners stuff,, ( I posted something here about it, only Duffy replied) would have thought Sunjamr or you Billy would get something cool to takeaway with my gree lesson lol
