I cannot believe the tone(s) I am getting from this gem of an amp. I haven’t picked up an acoustic guitar in over a week!😉 I’m playing my 60th Anniversary American Standard Strat with CS ’54 PUPs. There output is amongst the lowest of the single coil pick ups however, they really sing-clean or with max overdrive. Any-who-I rediscovered some cool licks/riffs from one of my favorite RIFF-MASTERS. Is their a better riff-master than Keith Richards? With this Katana- there is no reason to buy that Marshall Studio 20W Plexi or JTM…. I just have to learn to use it. This is a bit short due to the fact that it might be a sneak preview to this month’s Challenge…. Rock on mates. PS. I dialed off the OD for the second example…. this never gets dull.

There is a certain amount of raw power under your fingertips with electric that you don’t get with acoustic and it looks like you are rediscovering it on your neck pickup.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Cool, John. Keif is the rhythm master.
What are your settings on the Katana, please share. Sometimes I get a great tone on mine and forget to take notes, never to be found again😪.

I will… I do it all by ear. You would be woefully disappointed in my “tone setting skills”… might have to Facetime each-other this summer. I need to get a pedal board compatible with my Katana then take a deep dive into the settings. I am doing everything manually from the amp these days. I will take a look and see what I did….

Nice John. I have very little knowledge of amps except for the little VOX that I use so I can hardly comment on yours other than to say it sounds pretty good.

Awesome riffage, John! I especially liked those tones you were getting starting at 0:37! Sounded like Keith himself layin’ it down.!!

Yeah John! Rock on! Awesome, classic riffs, none better than emulating the master Keef. I actually just sold my Boss Katana 50. I found I just didn’t use the effects settings. I’ve decided I’m just a guitar stomp box kind of guy. Anyway, loved your samples. Keep on Rockin’! All the best! 😎🎸😎

I really struggled to use the Boss Katana and get any decent tones out of it, other than clean sounds. I now use a Yamaha THR30ii which sounds a lot better at low volume in my opinion. With that being said though, you’ve made it sound great so perhaps I was doing something wrong!

                            Hey Ben
It’s not easy getting the tones you want. Too many choices and a huge learning curve. It takes practice and time to carve out the tones of choice. I can help if you are interested.

Sounds really good John! I traded the 50 up to the 100W just for more presets. Didn’t need to though. I play electric thru the deluxe reverb and the Taylor thru the Katana on the acoustic channel.

Yeah I like these nasty Keith riffs. You can smash them and they sound so powerful.
Great crunchy tone on the Strat and the Katana.
                                Thanks for sharing.

I had a Katana not long after their release and just couldn’t get any decent tones from it so I had to send it back.

Not so with yourself John you’ve got that thing smokin like a chimney.

Cool open G Keef riffage also. Im sure we’ll be hearing more from this.

That’s a beast of a box! And it was bringing out some cool riffage from you and that Strat. Keif is the Riff Meister for sure. He just seems to pluck them out the ether!

Love it John sounds really good, you going to have to give me some pointers on this amp I’ve been using the crunch Chanel but it can be a bit bright or harsh sounding, when I go higher than lead it sounds very distorted have to turn the gain way down, which setting do you prefer to play on?
