        Hi all,

Can anyone recommend any blues songs with great bass lines that I can learn?

I’m not necessarily looking for complex pieces, just something fun or interesting I guess!

I’m currently learning Freddie Kings Have You Ever Loved a Woman and would love some more classic blues to get into

        Thank you in advance

          Hi Ben,

I’d suggest “I Just Can’t Be Satisfied” by the Stones. You can play all kinds of variations in G with that song.

Hideaway is a good one. I like the Clapton version, but there are so many that cover this song. It’s a classic though.

The Thrill Is Gone by B.B. King
              Crossroads by Cream
Lemon Song by Led Zeppelin (All rock comes from the blues)
              Soul Man by Blues Brothers

Root note patterns >>> CAGED shapes >>> TRIAD'S. Just put in the work and watch your guitar skills soar.

All great suggestions, thanks. Lemon Song looks like it’ll be a nice challenge so I think I’ll start there

I have 3 bass guitars, so I’m always on the lookout for good bass licks. Some of the best I’ve heard come from the classic reggae bands. Mike Love is a reggae musician from Hawaii, and his bass player is a legend. Check it out:

I’ve also tried learning to play some “walking bass” lines, which is super fun. Just search Youtube for “walking bass tutorials”. This dude does a decent job of explaining how it works (though the glove he wears look pretty weird):

Thanks for this, I definitely need to check out more reggae. I made a start after someone posted a reggae piece for the challenge this mont.

And yes I’ve just started watching this channel and have added this video to watch next. Thanks very much. Apparently the glove helps with a neurological condition he has that causes hand tremors. I thought it was a weird fashion choice but apparently not!

Just a few that come to mind!
