Better Late the Never August Challenge ’26

I didn’t think I was going to make this challenge; been out visiting family in Michigan and the wild Pacific Northwest-Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia. Made it home after 24 hours of flight delays, storms, lay-overs, and too much air port stuff. Nevertheless, I did manage to sit down and present a concept that I’ve been exploring-and that is trying to pull a melody out of a simple 1,4,5 Finger-picking chord progression. Additionally, I am trying to avoid the ‘shinier objects’ as Brian calls them and apply some of thing things learned. Nuthin’ Fancy here. Hope you like. And, I reacquainted myself with the glorious tone of Martin Mahogany. Playing my Martin OOO-15 M. I will have to catch up and watch all the submission this week. Can’t wait to see what folks are working on.

I’m glad you made it John – you’re still in time in the UK.
That’s a nice composition with neat fingerpicking and a lovely tone. Chord changes were smooth and it all added up to a pleasant song.

Great fingerstyle playing, John! Loved the tune and that catchy riff throughout. Nice tone on the Martin also. Glad you made it to the Challenge!!
