Learn to play blues guitar.

I just bought the membership ad I’m having a hard time making sense of the sequence of the lessons. What is best way to go about it ?
Watch EP 498. Brian talks about how to practice and in the text, he lists the course topics that he recommends for folks (like you and me) who don’t know where to start. Remember, his lessons are not part of a structured system. Good luck.
Good question, Abhinav. Unfortunately, we have all been damaged by our early school experience, where lessons were presented to us in a sequential fashion and we had to learn each lesson before we could progress to the next. So we expect that kind of approach for whatever stuff we want to learn now days. In fact, I don’t think you could learn classical guitar in any other way than by sequential lessons. But blues and rock guitar are different, because they are based on improv skills. So, you can just start having fun and learning some licks. The aim is to build your own “lick library”. Almost every AM lesson has some takeaway licks, and there is no order in which to learn them. Just pick some lessons you like, and memorize them. After a couple of years, one day you will suddenly realize “Hey, I’m getting pretty good at improv!”
If you don’t think this approach will work, just have a listen to some of the members’ posts from the Monthly Challenge series. As a group, we are all getting pretty good.
