Are you in the beginner or blues lessons? I don’t see what you mean in either.

hi. I am new to the site. At the Free stage, but love the site.
Question: before I buy I would like to understand the beginner steps.
I have been trying to play for months with no luck. I think it has to do with too much info and jumping around. I am looking for a good path that builds.I see the beginner link has a lot of lessons. I am not sure how to approach this?

I just found ActiveMelody tonight. I would say I’m an advanced beginner, I can play many open chords, bar chords, the minor pentatonic scale, and some simple solos. However the ‘beginner’ lessons I’ve seen on the website do not appear to be for beginners (more intermediate level – how could a new learner already know bar chords and scales – and there appears to be no logical progression to the lessons, just an assortment of many different things under each category. Am I missing something? I can’t see how this would be a coherent way to learn guitar.

I am also a beginner, well lets say not very good. I know what you mean about the beginners Blues lead guitar licks….. I am only up to about lick No 10 and most are quite testing.
It is only my opinion but it is hard to find any guitar course that is going to be perfect for everyone who picks up a guitar and really wants top learn. I must have a dozen or more books that attempt to teach the guitar. All good in their own way.
What I have done is grabbed a ring binder with those plastic sleeves. So I have identified an aspect of guitar I feel I need to learn (lets say some bar chords), so I print out some bar chords on sheets of paper which are mr practise for the bar chords I am trying to get on top of. 5 minutes a day……
Then as a second thing I might want to improve my hammer ons and pull offs, so I find a lick that is just beyond me, print it out and that becomes my daily plug — say five minutes on the hammer ons.
Then there will be a third area I want to improve, say my strum patterns, so I again find something that focuses my efforts on that aspect. Spend some time on that each day.
So on and so forth.
I don’t flog away at anyone of these subjects for a long time, I just try and spend 5 or 10 minutes on each of those areas I am weak in.
Then I play some things that I have already sorted. This builds up my confidence and hope that the impossible just might eventually be achieved.
If anyone wants to tell me a better way to learn, speak now.
All the best with your aspirations.

Hi Rich B
I looked at the selection options and maybe select the sessions on “Beginner lessons Easy” or further down “rhythm Lessons”…. I might not have the exact wording but it is close. Either of these should pull up lessons that look promising.

Awhile back Brian started to list the weekly lessons in terms of difficulty, and these are the lessons you are looking at.
If you are a beginner then you want the beginners course to start you off, if you are a premium member then you will have access to the courses, you won’t have access if you are not premium....Billy..

Hello, all.
I just signed up today for the annual premium membership. I am looking for the beginner’s course, when I go there it looks like just an outline of topics, no live links. From the discussions in this thread, do I just piece together whatever lessons seem to fit a logical sequence for the beginner’s course. Or is there an actual course that I am missing. I don’t really need to start from the beginning, I just wanted to make sure I covered the basics.
thanks, Stan
