August 2026. Challenge Response – Werner

Hello All,

I’ve always had trouble keeping time. That’s why I often use a drum as a backing track. Not this time! I also want to improve my slide playing. A cigar box guitar has helped me with that. This instrument is currently sold in Germany for under €80. And, of course, “You Gotta Move” by Mississippi Fred McDowell. (1904-1972)

I’m now on my way to our jam session with Manfred, Trem, and Juxi. I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll be bringing an Emerald x7, an old girl Paula (The Heritage H-140) a Cuban Tres and the newest member of our family: a cigar box guitar and more enthusiasm than skill.

Don’t sell yourself short, Werner, I think that was pretty fantastic. I think you’ve got a couple of skills well developed already, ie muting behind the slide and a nice vibrato.
That’s going to be a great addition to the jam. Looking forward to that video.
