I struggle with a lot of techniques. š But for this challenge I chose triads and using a light touch. I have been learning just the Pentatonic scales and wanted to add triads to my playing but had no idea how to do it. Shout out to AM member Michael Krailo who spent a great deal of time and effort helping me not only learning triads but improvising in general. As for my touch Iām usually pressing the strings like a vise gripā¦I really tried to play this comp with just enough touch so I donāt sharp the notes (especially in the lower frets near the nut).
This is a composition I came up with over a Vintage Soul Guitar Backing Track – E Minor by Quist. The chord progression is a little weird – I Am9 I Am9 I Bm7 I Em9 I. I think I got quite a few triads in this, plus a couple of Pentatonic runs as well.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy listening to everyone elseās!

Great job, Joe. Wonderful use of triads, I think you should be proud of that one.

All that hard work paid off Joe. That’s such a big difference in the overall melodic note choices moving with the chords. Very intentional and musical.
Root note patterns >>> CAGED shapes >>> TRIAD'S. Just put in the work and watch your guitar skills soar.

That sounds wonderful; the use of various triads and other scale elements was really effective.

This sounds super, Joe! You seem to be getting better and better each time I hear you. Add on to the fact that this is your own composition, just makes it all the more more impressive. Great playing!!
