Jamming on just 2 chords and alternating back and forth between those 2 chords while playing the chords, fill licks, and rhythm fills in a stand-alone composition. Like a jam session with yourself.
I found a wealth of information in this lesson as far achieving a full sound of the chords changing during soloing but not needing any accompaniment Using chord shapes, seeing chord tones while playing very cool licks. All with just 2 chord changes and a very cool groove.

You dug up an older lesson that I have never seen before. That was a very interesting lesson. The rhythm part of it is what makes the groove. This is called chord stabs, if you can get that technique down you are doing really well. It’s a great technique when you get the timing down well.
I know there are other lessons that utilize two chords, but not quite like this one. I guess my question to you would be what do you think it would benefit you beyond what you learned in lesson EP254? All Brian is doing is staying in the key of the song which is Cm so it’s nothing earth shattering. I like the rhythm aspect of this lesson myself.
One of the licks I have never seen before, so I’m glad that you pointed out this lesson. But the others have been repeated in other lessons along the way.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Thanks for the Reply Michael.
Never new the rhythm was called chord stabs. The groove is the first thing that hooked me in. I think i can safely say that my level of ability thus far is familiarity with major, minor and dom7 chord shapes in caged system. As well as not great, but getting better at seeing triads with b3 or maj3. Also some arp work under my belt for maj, min and dom7 as well.I still experience hesitation when trying to see it all up and down the neck. The ole saying ” you know it, but do you really know it” rings true with me. The same rings true with me trying to spot the 1 3 or b3 5 b7 chord tones in all of the 5 caged shapes will trying to improvise.
With that being said, I find this simple two chord exchange with an awesome chord stab groove, a great exercise in pushing me to see all that i just described in 5 different positions on the neck. As well as being a groove that Im having fun with while I push myself out of my comfort zone.
The final thing I like about this lesson is as you play licks and land on various chord tones, you can hear the chords changing without accompanyment and that is my ultimate goal as a player. That in my mind is where the fun zone lives. What say you?

Hi Laurel, Thank you for the reply. You just saved me a lot of work trying to isolate specific lessons. I tried the search field and it got pretty daunting. Somehow you have filtered out and isolated specific lessons targeted to what I was looking for. Many thanks for that. I have printed the pdf with your recommendations for where i should start.
By the way, did you use some form of a spreadsheet to filter out and target specifics? Just wondering.
Thanks again for the help
