Well, I actually find this challenge really challenging. It sounds a bit like… come up with something like the Stones did with “Satisfaction” or Jimi with “Purple Haze.” I don’t have anywhere near the talent those musicians had. Anyway—here’s my entry

I thought that was right on point, Werner – as I’m writing this, I can easily imagine a song wrapping itself around your hook! Really nicely done. – Mark 👍🎶😎

Awesome composition. You’re not alone going over the 30 seconds so maybe that was half the battle. Very catchy guitar rhythm though and that was the hook.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Hi Werner, you nailed it! Love the bass part, and you look like a rock star standing and playing. Driving energy and kind of a punk feel to it.

You never cease to amaze me Werner. That sounded like 2 hooks to me – the bass and the rhythm. Super cool!

That was so cool, Werner! A driving rhythm and a double-hook (bass & guitar). Challenge met! I think Pemmy approves, too.

Very cool hook, Werner. You let the beast talk! Sounds somewhat BoDiddlyesque.

I loved your hook idea, Werner! I kept waiting for the camera to pan over to 3 beautiful backup singers who would join in for the chorus.

Surf vibes Werner. I really dig it, a great energy. Only thing missing was some board shorts and sunnies for doggy.

It’s a simple idea, Werner, but you demonstrate so well how simple is effective.
I listened to two releases from the Stones upcoming albun “Foreign Tongues”. I was disappointed in the lack of a good hook like in their prime, so this is not an easy task.

Yeah, sometimes it’s that simple: a groove, a solid bassline, and a driving rhythm. And the hook works!
Super abgeliefert, Werner!Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be July
There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum
I look forward to meet you.

You hit the spot there Werner. Despite your concerns you did come up with a driving pinkish, stones kind of rock riff. Great stuff 👍

This was great, a rock groove with swing and surf … so ready for the next stage to be a song. I think your dog prefers the bass guitar. Well done.

Despite your reservations, you came up with an awesome groove and hook, Werner! Loved the bass and the bassist’s stage persona 😎, and the great catchy guitar rhythm, both giving a solid base for a hit song.

I had now idea that you are such an accomplished bass player, Werner! That were two really great hooks. I think, at the next WEM we will have to call you Keith, 👍🏽👍🏽
