Hi folks , my submission for this months “hook” challenge, I chose the backing track from EP 282 , I’ve always loved the simplicity of this lesson and went the same way with my motif idea , playing straight off the Bminor chord shape starting with single notes and fills then finishing with the harmonized 3rds which I see as the hook .
This could be used many ways in a composition, call and response being one of them .
Looking forward to listening to everyone’s ideas , we are away travelling in wales so will catch up in due course .
Also later this week we shall be meeting up with AMs Denise and her husband who are also holidaying in wales , which will be fun and hope to have a jam .

          Nicely done Martin. Beautiful melody.

Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

EP282… the gift that keeps on giving 🙂. You’ve breathed a new life into it too with that beautiful melody and Brian’s was a tough act to follow!
I could definitely hear this repeating, or variations of it, in the context of a longer song. Something like Wild Theme from Local Hero.

Have a great time with Denise and Alain. They stopped by here, on their way to Wales and we had a jam too. Great fun and there will be more follow there in time on Showcase.

Martin, you certainly picked one of the best tracks to develop a Hook over. EP 282 was an absolute stunner. I think your embryo Hook sounded great and worth developing to the next phase.

You demonstrated that one needs a song to have a hook. Nicely done…. Simple, catchy and powerful…love your tone. What kind of pickup is in your acoustic? I would love to have that tone!!

Very nice, Martin. The guitar sounds great and together with the backing track your hook almost turned out into a mini song. Have fun with Denise and her husband, would be cool if you could jam together.

That’s on my favorite lessons list, and your melody worked perfectly with it. Maybe you could make that into a second verse for the lesson.

This whole exercise has been very educational. You demonstrated to me how certain techniques can be important in a hook ie. the beauty of slides and double stops.
It also occured to me that you have a vdery nice guitar collection.

You are right about using a Hook from within a lesson, especially from Ep282 which has a beautiful haunting melody to showcase this. Well done.
