Hello AM friends,
Challenge: play something with a hook.
I struggled with this one, I had a project with a hook but took me weeks to figure out the solos.
It finally came to me late last night.
Not the best solos but hey I’m here.Hook part played with my LP in harmonies(octaves)
LPs played in harmony with the banchury( Eastwest).
Godin bass.
Pad also from Eastwest
Solos with my Strat.
Drums with Reaper.Hope you somewhat like it.

Excellent hook, very stately and an interesting harmony with an unexpected and very effective major seventh.

I’ve always enjoyed your solos André and your Hook stood out well against the full composition.

Loved this submission, André – as I commented on another post, it’s great to be able to hear your hook in context!
I think there may have been some confusion on this challenge; like you, I thought it was the hook that should be 30 seconds max, not the whole recording. For myself, I preferred hearing how it fits into your song – loved the performance. – Mark 👍🎶😎

Mark I agree with you about the confusion.
I think he meant that the hook should be 30 sec long but could be attached to a composition,
like you and I did.
Well will be a short listen, LOLAndréM

As always Andrè you hit it outta the ball park. I could easily picture this as a theme song for a movie.

Nice playing in unison off the top Andre. Great tone on the Strat for the solo. A fine composition!

Excellent hook, Andre. Repetitive hook set the stage for your excellent playing (refrains?) after.

Hi Andre, I really liked this, I paricularly like the LP parts and the harmony there – it has a quality I cant name, but I know I liked it and it’s definitely got hook quality. Always a pl;easure to hear your work. Best wishes.

Love the harmony on that hook. Solos are killer too. Well done!

You’re very modest André! Your hook played in octave is brilliant and then you were able to build a whole very fine composition around it. Masterfully crafted and played, mon ami.

The way I understood Brian you could have stopped at the 49 sec mark. The rest were cherries on top. Delicious though 😀
The hook is really catching and the solo was not too shabby either. -

Great composition and I hear that repeated hook in the beginning, so that would have sufficed, but we got the full Monty.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Great opening hook, Andre, and thanks for the bonus song. I love how your hook always comes back in your song. Great work!

Oh no, Andre! Now you and I are in trouble, because we went ahead and built a song to go with our hook. Several members have predicted that the next challenge will be to create a song to go with our hook. Maybe we should take next month off…..
Beautiful composition and arrangement. You should add this one to your next album.

I´m with Steve, André. Great composition—it’s downright bombastic and has what it takes to be a national anthem. I’d love to have an album of yours, too.
Thank you, Werner

Very beautiful melody line on your Les Paul, the kind of song that can be used for a wedding couple entering the church. Very beautiful submission.

Wow that had an epic quality. Absolutely majestic. The whole composition revolved around that hook. Really cool composition.

Andre
That was remarkable. Love the Dickie vibe, Gold Top Les Paul and of course your hook was sensational. Very uplifting, melodious and spirited. I’m glad you added the solos because it gives your ‘hook’ a broader context. Well done my friend.John

Couldn’t do a short listen, Andre, I couldn’t stop listening. That was epic, like a soundtrack, I pictured the settlers travelling westward into unknown territories.

Incredible opening or a hook, if you will! It totally sounded like an epic hit that everyone should know or maybe a mellow rock cover of a traditional or a spiritual/worship song, simply beautiful. The recurring hook spoke words to me 🙂

I felt like I was standing to attention the whole way through, this could be a National Anthem. This has been crafted beautifully. It had honour, respect and tradition all woven into the fabric of this composition. Just Epic. (There was confusion for this month, I thought like you and some others, but Brian did an update on the post to clear up the confusion we were having).

Nicely done the intro was really melodic and lead into the rest of the piece well
Thanks for sharing

Hi Andre, this is, to my ear, the best hook example so far. The recurring idea is unmistakable and sets the tone for the rest of the piece. Really nice!
