Hey guitar friends, assignment this month is to make a (Hook). I don’t know exactly what a hook is (there is no translation for it), but I think it’s what we call a Lick or riff?
I tried something simple and repetitive in a blues format.
Sound with a lot of distortion (Gary Moore? )
I look forward to seeing what you all have made,
Musical greetings and hopefully lots of listening pleasure -

Hi Carpa, yes, great tone on this riff. I think this qualifies as a hook. It’s catch and easily identifies the piece of music. Well done!

You had me right from the very start with that sound Carpa. It went over 30 sec, but it was the same idea with a really in your face kind of tone.
Go slow and practice correct technique, and your abilities will dramatically improve.

Hi Carpa, great riff / hook you are playing. It’s very catchy (nice tone!) and I can see how you could build a cool song around it.

Yes Carpa, that’s what I call a rocking good hook!

Love Like a Man by Ten Years After, came out in 1970, a great hook, brings back those carefree days.

Hey Jonathan,
I’m sitting here completely stunned. I didn’t know that idea already existed.😥

In that case, you’re as good as one of the greats! And you should check out Ten Years After, they were huge in the UK in the late 70s.

Way to go Carpa, that’s a maxxed out hook for sure! Almost reaches the level of “Smoke on the Water”. Well played.

There was plenty of ‘grunt’ in that one Carpa to make it a great Hook.

A great submission from you, Carpa – that is definitely a hook that could be the centrepiece of a longer tune. – Mark 👍🎶😎

Hey Carpa, that’s a very catchy hook. Unfortunately, it’s been taken.
That’s no criticism on my part, the early rockers probably used up all the pentatonic variations you could ever dream of. Just means you’re thinking like the other great guitar gods😉.
Alvin had such great hair and the best “guitar faces”.

Yeah, Ten Years After, my favorite group in the seventies. Thanks for bringing it back, Carpa. You played it so appropriate.

Hey Manfred,
Charjo and Jonathan Amos had already pointed it out to me,
I am stunned. I didn’t know that idea already existed.😥

Has that rock song standard vibe, so catchy though. Interesting, what direction will it go? Agree, you have a better tone than the original.

You definitely DO know what a hook is, Carpa! It seems like you – unintentionally – came up with an all-time classic! I would say you’ve nailed the challenge, and you played it very well, with nice distortion!
