Wondering if anyone recalls what lesson this might be: it’s a Vamp on a powerchord, pretty sure it was key of G. No third at all in the backing track, and it was about exploring major vs. minor tonality.
Thanks in advance!

Alan, Could it be Ep530 as it does fits the criteria you mentioned..

Thanks but that ain’t it! It’s kinda driving me batty, I can hear the backing track in my mind 🤪 I’ll probably just create my own track but I was curious what the original lick content was…

EP203 perhaps? That’s one of my favorite jams.

Found it! EP549. This doesn’t have the intention that I remember, this lesson is about a particular minor pentatonic pattern (side note, this is a great lesson on alternate picking.)
BUT it is a G5 chord in the jam track! At about 10:00 in the lesson Brian says “it’s a root and fifth, I left the third out on purpose, so I could make it go major or minor.””
My search came about when I opened ML135, Pentatonic Cheat Code. The backing track seemed like a great opportunity to practice both major and minor patterns in the same key! 🙂

Wait, I listened to that particular backing track. Are you sure that was it? I didn’t hear anything remarkable about that track at all. I’m glad you found the one you were looking for anyway. The ML135 cheat code is one of those milestone lessons that is so valuable if you know your notes on the fretboard. It should give anyone lot’s of motivation to learn all the notes if not there yet.

Oh that was definitely the one I was thinking of. Worked on it years ago but never bookmarked.
I think what’s remarkable is the simplicity. What other backing track has no chord change and no third? It’s cool that you can plug in any scale you like, compare scales, and really absorb the intervals.
