Are there any lessons,or plans for one to show how to build up left hand finger speed, and co-ordination with the right?
I have been watching and attempting some of the blues lessons,,but on some parts my fingers just don`t have the speed to keep up.
What should I do to “Learn” them?
Your lessons Brian,,are fantastic,,they have really inspired me to really sit down and learn guitar properly
Thanks

Hey Phil
I could give you the smart aleck answer of the 3 keys to accomplish this, which is ‘Practice, practice, practice’. I’ll spare you of that
I would suggest that you download the VLC player, which is free (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) and use that play Brian’s material. Under the video display is a progress bar as on most media players but if you click on the arrow on the left side of that progress bar, the video is slowed down with each click without changing the key. Find a speed that you can keep up with and practice until your performance is solid. Then click on the arrow to the right of the progress bar to speed it up slightly. Keep increasing the speed of the video until you are playing at full speed.
This has worked for me with Brian’s material and other material that I’ve found on the web and that I’ve purchased.
Hope this helps.

<><+1 on VLC. It works a charm. If you’re a Mac user there’s also a way to use Garageband to slow songs down without changing the pitch. Also works well.

That’s what I was going to say too. Practice, it’s the only thing that will work. I wont come on it’s own. The more I practice the better you and I get. it is a slow process that takes awhile. You have to learn to crawl before you can walk before you can run. We all need to just keep working toward our goal, to play the guitar.
Best of luck
Jim.

<><This is a great suggestion. As a MAC user, the progress bar thing doesn’t work for me but you can use CMD + or – to speed up or slow down the video. There are also some nice programs that will do the same thing. I use Transcribe! which makes it easy to set up a loop and slow it down. A lot of people use Audacity which I believe is a free program. Either way, the principle is the same. Slow down the piece until you can play it without errors and speed it up gradually. Works for me!
