After being smitten by EP 210, what recommendations for Gospel Music?

Hi gang,

I just finished the “slow melodic keep it simple lesson” (EP 429) and can’t stop playing it. Soft and slow and melodious. Makes me feel good. Even my wife says “don’t stop playing it”.

So now I have discovered EP 210 “Gospel Style Blues Guitar Lesson – Major Pentatonic Scale” in 6/8 time. Wow, again a slow soulful style I really respond to. Can’t wait to get this solidly under my fingers.

Sooooo, this makes me think that this style of Gospel music is for me, but I don’t know anything about the genre. Can anyone recommend some music or artists to listen to to learn about this style? I wonder if I will need to ask Brian directly? Thanks for any help or guidance going down this path!

Hi Scott,

I understand that your question is about artists who play in gospel style. I would say most of the traditional blues artists do, for example BB King, Albert King and many others.

Recently EP 431 teaches how to play the ‘Gospel’ style. It includes a nice turn around with two other examples. Also, there is a Swing Low Swing Chariot Gospel/Blues lesson that is very appropriate in the Gospel vein.
