Here is the link to the article from Guitar World.

This is a crazy story how a 140 year old Martin parlor guitar was loaned out to be used briefly on the movie set for The Hateful Eight and was destroyed by Quintin Tarantino’s decision to use the guitar in a scene while the person looking after the guitar had left the set for the day. I tend to think this was her fault because she was the one that was supposed to look after the guitar. She should have taken it with her when she left for the day. What is your opinion on the matter?

This happened quite a while ago, but it was an actual a guitar tech that worked at Martin that was supposed to look after the guitar, not that actor. So definitely not her fault. That guitar tech was the one that screwed up.

It makes you wonder why they would have used a rare antique guitar anyway. They could have just used a cheap Chinese copy and no one would have known the difference. Must be some kind of karma.

I agree, there was no need to put that guitar at risk if it was priceless and irreplaceable. They now have a policy to never loan out to movie sets of any kind. Never know when Curt Russell will show up on set.
