This is an older one by Brian, first posted in May 2010. I started working on this piece roughly four weeks ago. The video wouldn’t open here in Germany, so I only had the tab-sheets as a guide. Thanks to an add-on to my browser that I got a few days ago, I now know that my version differs quite a bit from Brian’s. That wasn’t my plan though and I’d rather “copy” Brian note for note (allowing you and myself to compare). I tried to relearn this solo over the last few days, but my interpretation of it is still too strongly engrained in my head. I will try the note-4-note thing with the next lesson and hope that you will still enjoy this one.
P.S. This is the first time I recorded straight into my PC. The sound quality is much better than in the other videos I posted so far, but I’m afraid the video/audio synchronization is somewhat off. My apologies for that. Going forward, I hope my cutting skills will improve along with my guitar skills.

Hey Trem
You and the SG go well together. Sounded nice. Do you use Reaper? I put out a sticky on VST’s and amps. It’s no longer a sticky and I actually don’t know where it is on the forum now, but maybe someone here knows. Try using one of them amps on Reaper and its makes playing a bit more fun. Nice work on the that tutorial. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Hi Tremelow,
You seem to have a lot of natural ability on the guitar. Your picking looks great, nice and relaxed. Your fingers move really well on the fretboard and you find the chords easily. I don’t think you can do anything but get better and better. Plus you’ve got that beautiful SG.
I’m sorry you are having such a difficult time with the Presonus. I want a more sophisticated DAW than Garageband on the Ipad but I don’t want to put out $1,500 for a Mac laptop, just to upgrade to the full Garageband. I was hoping the Presonus would be more manageable.

Good job Trem! Nice playing. I also appreciate you put your gear and guitar settings in the video info.

Hi Kevin,
I am impressed by your finger position. That is probably the right way. Well done.Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Thanks a lot for all the praise, guys! I feel like a million bucks!!
@6stringer: you are probably referring to this one:https://www.activemelody.com/forum/viewthread/1402/
I’ve been there and it is indeed very helpful. In fact, I perused the whole forum for information on VSTs and bit by bit I learned very valuable information. It just took me an undue amount of time to find exactly what I needed to get started.
@charjo: What you say makes me really proud. I printed your post out and will use it as my prep talk in the future. Seriously, it’s so motivating.
@Bryce: I just thought the settings might interest someone. I often see videos on Youtube with great sounds and wish I had more information on how to get that sound.
@Dori: Thanks! I used Proxy, but it’s always good to have an alternative.@Chris: To hear that from you .. 🙂
@Wilfried: Thanks! I am still trying be become more accurate with both hands and think, keeping the fingers of my left hand closer together might help. Most pros I watch do that. Unless the chord or sequence of notes requires wide spread fingers, of course.
@Jim: Glad to hear that! If it sounds bluesy, I must have done something right 🙂Have a great day, y’all!
